17.2.5) Collaboration with NGOs for SDGs
Collaborate with NGOs to tackle the SDGs through: student volunteering programmes, research programmes, or development of educational resources.

    I. Student volunteering programs
◆The student volunteers of the “Economics &Education” team from the Department of Economics traveled to Cambodia during summer vacation and assisted the local NGO ECC School in promoting sustainable development. The village where ECC School is located is adjacent to the World Heritage site Angkor Wat and is a poor community. Many local children aspire to become well-paid tour guides in the future, which requires English and computer skills to develop the tourism industry and increase their income. The “Economics &Education” team is made up of students from our university who are eager to participate in international volunteer services. They provide free Chinese and computer lessons to economically disadvantaged students, sparking their interest in learning these skills. The team also focuses on training local teachers to continue offering Chinese and computer courses, thereby enhancing the employability of local youth, increasing family income, and helping to alleviate poverty in the community.
◆Accounting students, through the “Social Service” (Service Learning Professional Knowledge Program), collaborated with Penghu Xixi Elementary School, Xin Yuan Educational Foundation, and WT Educational Foundation to carry out the “Penghu Xinyuan Classroom” project. This initiative involves regularly accompanying underprivileged elementary school students in remote areas with weekly video reading sessions. In addition to fostering reading skills in the children, it also offers the students taking the course an opportunity for social care and reflection.

    II. Development of educational resources
◆The Department of Information and Library Science has signed an observational learning program with the San Francisco Public Library in the United States, to encourage academically outstanding students to intern abroad, significantly expanding opportunities for promising young students to engage in international exchange and cooperation activities. The goal is to cultivate professionals with international perspectives and practical experience. For the department, this provides long-term and stable overseas cooperation resources and helps establish diverse overseas learning mechanisms, contributing to the growth of curriculum planning and students’ career development.
◆The "Great Tamsui Teaching Resource Sharing Platform" continues collaborating with primary and secondary schools in the Greater Tamsui area, bringing university resources into these schools. This initiative provides better teaching resources to primary and secondary schools and allows university students to engage deeply with the community and better understand its current situation.
◆In collaboration with local partners, the Resource Center for the Visually Impaired offers courses for visually impaired individuals, including sessions on recognizing New Taiwan dollars and promoting new knowledge for the visually impaired, such as operating a smartphone with voice commands.
◆The Resource Center for the Visually Impaired has spent many years developing and applying blind-accessible computer software, successfully integrating IT into education and support for the visually impaired. By combining government and private sector resources, the center aims to enhance the employability of visually impaired individuals. Through a professional team providing teaching, consultation, and training services, the center has established a comprehensive support system for visually impaired students, promoting lifelong learning and offering integrated employment services for the visually impaired. In 2022 and 2023, the center, in collaboration with the Technology Development Association for the Disabled, co-organized the “Fulfilling University Social Responsibility – Seeing Hope Employment Workshop Project.” This initiative targeted visually impaired students, students with disabilities, and visually impaired individuals outside the university, offering the following courses:
a.Computer education and Digital Literacy: MOS (PowerPoint, Excel) certification workshop
b.Visual impairment and care support services courses
c.Aromatherapy Journey Course Series – Enjoying Plant Time
