11.2.5) Arts and heritage contribution
Contribute to local arts, in terms of number of annual public performances of university choirs, theatre groups, orchestras etc… either ad-hoc or as part of an ongoing programme

    Through the development and establishment of art-related systems, active research plans, and related courses, the university also organizes art competitions, exhibitions, camps, art lectures, and theater performances to provide art activities for the public and contributes to local art. Contributions and related actions are as follow:
    1. Art-Related System: The digital e-pen calligraphy and painting system developed by the university has continued to enhance. It has entered the iOS and Android systems from the windows computer version, which has made great contributions to the promotion of calligraphy and painting. Building the Tamsui wiki, dedicating it to the preservation of local cultural history.
    2. Research Project: The professors of the Department of Architecture: conduct investigation and research on "Native People Bunun along Laklak River", restoration and reuse of No. 329, Section 1, Dihua Street; "Playing in Quodis Arcana" was set up in the plaza behind the Tamsui Heritage Museum Douglas Lapraik & Co.; using Tamsui as a base to carry out the seven major projects including: "Potential World Heritage Sites Project", "Regeneration of Sino-French War's Ancient battlefield", "Tamsui Area Preservation Plan", "Hometown Guardian", "Tamsui Historical Trail Renovation", and the establishment of Tamsui workshop. The professors of the Graduate Institute of China Studies’ key research project of the university in the 2019 academic year known as - Art and Culture of the North Coast Project, located in the temple of YinShan Temple holds a concert and attracted 500 people to participate.
    3. Relative Courses: The USR Project Office cooperated with the Department of Architecture and the Graduate School of Curriculum and Instruction to offer two courses "Community Service and Practice" and "Seminar on Curriculum Reform", with the learning goal of preserving intangible cultural heritage. The College of Global Development revised the "Travel Literature Course- Project of Drama Group" by adapting to the script based on Jimmy's picture book "Turn Left Turn Right," and cooperated with Yilan Tourist Service Center, Industrial and Commercial Tourism Office, and Film and Television Co-Production Office as required by the plan. Paying deposits and signing a service contract, educating students on the importance of intellectual property rights, including the adaptation and performance of Jimmy's picture books, the right to use scenes, etc.
    4. Art Competition: The College of Liberal Arts held the 2020 Cannes Youth Creative Competition Future Young Lions student group activity. Participants’ films theme-related videos and upload them to the YouTube channel to reveal Taiwan’s efforts in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to promote Taiwan’s warm strength.
    5. Achievement Exhibition: The Department of Mass Communication and the Department of Information and Communication organizes the student graduation production exhibition, workshop photography exhibition, internship center graduation achievement exhibition, animation and interactive game creation achievement exhibition, showing the integration of student media creation, and cross-domain marketing. The College of Liberal Arts organizes the "Tamsui wiki淡水維基館" achievements exhibition annually.
    6. Camping Activities: The Carrie Chang Fine Arts Center held the ocean summer camps and the calligraphy research seminars and art lectures in 2019.
    7. Art Seminars and Musical Activities: The Center for General Education and Core Curriculum regularly holds many art seminars and musical season activities. These live musical performances and activities are open to the public to improve the public's quality of humanism, increase love for music and art, organize drawing competitions and art-related workshops from time to time, and continuous to improve the public's ability for art appreciation. The Carrie Chang Music Hall holds more than 100 performances annually, and everyone is welcomed to participate.
    8. Theater Performances: Both the Department of Spanish and the Department of German conducts the graduation performances and off-campus performances of German dramas in the Tamsui Shell Warehouse淡水殼牌倉庫 in May 2019. The students of Tamkang demonstrated the quality of the Department of Foreign Language and Literatures through off-campus performances and promoted foreign literature. The Department of English held an off-campus drama performance at Zhuwei High School in December 2019, performing the drama of "The Two Gentlemen of Verona" by the British writer Shakespeare.
