    I. General Education
To continue promoting environmental sustainability, our university’s general education program approaches sustainable development topics from various perspectives, enabling students to gain a broad and in-depth understanding of sustainability. The spirit of experiential learning is integrated into the teaching content. Additionally, within the framework of sustainable development education, diverse and multidisciplinary courses are offered across different professional fields. The university also established a “Sustainable Development” micro-program, which connects general education courses across three major domains through thematic topics. This program aims to build a strong foundation of knowledge in sustainable development for students. The related courses include:
a.The university-wide common courses include “Social Service Learning – Caring and Sharing,” “Forest Ecology and Tree Protection,” “Construction of An Ecologically Diversified Community,” and “Minority and Social Welfare.”
b.In the humanities field, a course titled “Environmental Ethics” explores the concept of environmental sustainability from a reflective perspective. This course also guides students in connecting with local cultures, expanding social engagement, and promoting the development of sustainable urban and rural areas.
c.In the social sciences field, courses such as “Well-being and Economics,” “Human Rights and Social Justice,” “Social Future – Urban Future,” and “Economic Globalization” help students understand the concepts and developments related to globalization, exploring its impact on national sovereignty, political economy, cultural society, NGOs, and individuals. Through these courses, students gain insight into the characteristics and dynamics of the current international landscape, broadening their global perspective. Additionally, based on the spirit of sustainable development, these courses also delve into internal issues within different regions, helping students understand current and future challenges.
    d. In the sciences, courses such as “Sustainable Development of Technology” and “Marine Technology” help students understand the achievements of past human civilizations, the current challenges we face, and the future obstacles we must overcome. They also provide students with forward-thinking scientific concepts and knowledge, equipping them to consider how emerging technologies can meet societal needs and contribute to the sustainable development of civilization while searching for optimal solutions.

    II. Distinctive Dual-Tower Course
Starting in 2022, the university introduced the “Distinctive Dual-Tower” courses on AI and sustainability, incorporating “AI and Programming Language” and “Exploring Sustainability,” each worth 1 credit, as mandatory courses for freshmen. These courses aim to help students understand sustainable development and prepare them for future challenges by learning AI and artificial intelligence. Under the “Sustainable Governance” concept, the Center for Sustainable Development and Social Innovation serves as the hub, collaborating with all colleges across the university to nurture “sustainability competence” in education. The mandatory course for all first-year students, “Exploring Sustainability,” guides students through the processes of social awareness, social participation, and social innovation. This course aims to develop two core competencies: “exploration literacy” and “sustainability literacy,” with the goal of cultivating future-ready sustainable citizens as part of their university education.
