11.4.9) Building on brownfield sites
Build on brownfield sites, where possible.

Tamkang University adheres to Taiwan's Green Building Label regulations when designing new buildings. A green building consumes the least amount of Earth's resources, uses minimal energy, and generates the least waste throughout its life cycle (from material production to planning, design, construction, use, management, and eventual demolition). Currently, the following two locations on our campus have received the Green Building Label:

◆The Hsu Shou-Chlien International Conference Center on the Tamsui campus was designed to meet the relevant standards outlined in Chapter 17 of the Building Technical Regulations on Green Building Guidelines and achieve a higher standard. In 2019, it was certified by the Taiwan Architecture and Building Center as meeting the criteria of the Green Building Evaluation Manual - Basic Model (2015 edition), and it was awarded the Green Building Silver Label certificate. 淡江大學獲頒新北市低碳校園銀鵝級標章
◆The Lanyang campus's Administrative Building and Dormitory Building were awarded the Green Building Silver Label certificate in 2007.

In addition, the main plaza building of the New East Village, currently under construction, completed the "Agreement to Obtain Silver-Level Green Building Certification" in August 2023 and has passed the urban design review.
