The university meets the detailed indicators from 7.4.1 to 7.4.5 and it’s divided into four categories: cooperation between universities, implementation of governmental plans, universities holding small hands, and encouraging development and innovation. A brief description is as follow:
1. Collaboration Between Universities: The university responded to and signed the "The Talloires Declaration," and in 2013, it initiated the formation of the "Taiwan Green University Alliance" with the National Taiwan University and other institutions acting as a permanent member. Members must continue to participate in discussions on various environmental and energy issues of the alliance, including green campus practice, setting green energy generation issues, and internalizing the UN SDGs goals; since 2019, the president of the Tamkang University, Dr. Huan-Chao Keh has also served as a supervisor of the alliance.
2. Implementation of Governmental Plans: Professors from several departments of the university have contributed their expertise in the field of energy, including the Department of Architecture, Chemical and Materials Engineering, Water Resources and Environmental Engineering, Computer Science and Information Engineering, and Economics, etc., by serving as review members, implementing research projects, responsible for training, and other different capacities, continuously to cooperate with the industry, government, and academia to exert influence.
3. Universities Bonding With Others: To implement "Globalization," Tamkang plays the role of the locomotive, leading the primary and secondary schools in Tamsui, Lanyang, and schools in the North Coast to develop together; by the end of 2019, seven primary schools and local NGO groups in Tamsui associates with Tamsui District Office to issue the "Ecological Sustainable Freshwater Declaration," thus bringing together the public and private sectors to jointly demonstrate the determination of the Tamsui District for ecological conservation and environmental protection.
4. Encourage Development and Innovation: "Future-Oriented Education" is one of the three educational concepts of Tamkang University, and the most practical way to implement future-oriented education is to uphold the spirit of PDCA, continuously making progression, and innovate to respond to changes in the world. All units within the university must not only upgrade and transform (Track A) but also strive for innovation and transformation (Track B). Outside the university, the industry-academia cooperation projects support the development of low-carbon economy or technology startups; striving continuously for funding with limited resources, focus on fostering new ventures that are in line with the green economy, and implement the mission of universities to take and contribute to the society.
