7.4.5) Assistance to low-carbon innovation
Provide assistance for start-ups that foster and support a low-carbon economy or technology.

Tamkang University encourages and supports the development of startups focused on low-carbon economy or technology. The details related to industry-academia collaborations are as follows:

◆The Office of General Affairs of the university facilitated collaboration between faculty members from the Department of Information Management with information expertise and a company specializing in energy management technology services, creating joint industry-academia cooperation opportunities. This collaboration successfully secured resources from a government project (Industrial Development Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs), resulting in a mutually beneficial situation. The “AI-based Energy Management System for Production Manufacturing and its Methods,” developed in partnership with Entek Solutions Inc., passed Taiwan’s patent application process in November 2023, with the patent rights belonging to the university.
◆The Champion Incubation Center and the Office of Research and Development of the university, in collaboration with one of the resident companies, assisted industrial park companies in applying for the “Smart and Low-carbon Upgrade and Transformation Diagnostic Assistance” and “Smart and Low-carbon Case Subsidy” programs from the Industrial Development Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs. Through the resident company's carbon inventory and reduction technologies, the initiative supported industrial park enterprises in their low-carbon transformations.
◆In September 2023, our university obtained the qualification as a counseling unit for the Industrial Decarbonization Guidance Project by the Industrial Development Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs. The Research and Development Office has arranged a team of specialized faculty members to counsel several companies within the Pingzhen, Dayuan, Hsinchu, and Guishan industrial areas, assisting them in their low-carbon transition applications.
