17.4.1) Education for SDGs commitment to meaningful education
Have a commitment to meaningful education around the SDGs across the university, in some programmes or in all programmes.

In 2021, TKU President revealed during the Teaching and Administrative Innovation Seminar that the university would revolve around the core concept of "SDGs" in the future. It will integrate elements related to the local community, international perspective, AI technology, and future trends. Simultaneously, it will employ "AI technology and cloud services" as innovative strategic tools to realize the vision of "Collaboratively Creating a Greater Tamsui, Embracing a Smart and Magnificent Future." In November of the same year, the university applied for the registration of a trademark with the Intellectual Property Office of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and began actively promoting related initiatives.

On June 7, 2022, TKU signed an MOU with Far EasTone Telecommunications for the "5G Metaverse Zero Carbon Emissions Campus" initiative. Building upon the collaboration with Microsoft Taiwan on the "All-Cloud Smart Campus," the university continues to drive digital transformation. In the meantime, the Center for Sustainability Development and Social Innovation was established, consisting of three divisions: "Zero Carbon Emissions," "Social Practice," and "Resilient Governance." These divisions actively promote the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals throughout the entire university.

Starting in 2022, the university introduced the "AI and Sustainability" program as part of its distinctive dual-track curriculum. This program includes two courses, "AI and Programming Languages" and "Exploring Sustainability," each worth 1 credit, which have been incorporated into the compulsory courses for new students. These courses help students gain an understanding of sustainable development while learning about AI and artificial intelligence to prepare for future developments. Following the concept of "sustainable governance," the Sustainable Development and Social Innovation Center serves as the hub to collaborate with various colleges across the university. Their aim is to nurture "sustainability competence" education within the university. They have introduced the "Exploring Sustainability" course, which guides students through the process of social awareness, social participation, and social innovation. This approach enhances both "exploration literacy" and "sustainability literacy" as two core competencies, fostering the development of future-oriented sustainable citizens within the university. Additionally, TKU has launched a comprehensive program on AI technology and cloud services across the campus. This initiative aims to promote innovation and transformation among students and faculty while accelerating the practical implementation of the United Nations SDGs.
