12.4) Publication of a sustainability report

    To pursue sustainable development in terms of environmental protection, safety, and health, the university sets up a first-level unit "Environmental Protection and Safety and Health Center" in 2000 to be responsible for the promotion of various environmental safety and health work on campus. Introduced ISO14001 in 2003, promoted OHSAS18001 in 2012 and implemented ISO50001 in 2015. The university sets a budget to implement improvements and passed external audits annually. It is one of the very few educational institutions in the country that maintains the validity of the verification every year. In 2011, the original on-campus energy conservation promotion working group was expanded into the "Environmental Sustainability Promotion Committee" to raise the level of campus environmental sustainability affairs; from 2011 to 2013. Tamkang was awarded Taiwan’s Enterprise Environmental Protection Award for three consecutive years, making it the first university in the country to receive the "Honorary Enterprise Environmental Protection Award"; in 2017, Tamkang won the Silver Award of the Energy Conservation Benchmarking Award of the Executive Yuan and continued to publish information on sustainable development through the center's website.
