In terms of community water use, the university meets the detailed indicators from 6.5.1 to 6.5.5, which are mainly divided into two aspects: water conservation actions on campus and water conservation cooperation outside of campus.
1. Water-saving actions on campus: The continuous update of water-saving equipment such as the use of water-saving labels on the equipment side, the emphasis was on the education and publicity of water conservation on the user side. Tamkang encourages individual to pay a personal visit to the Tamsui Campus Maritime Museum for the exploration of the marine environment and the changes in human culture. Warm reminders from the A6 posters in front of each urinal or toilet seat, as well as the campus multimedia including the cyber channel and the Tamkang Times, cultivates faculty and staff to cherish water resources on campus with meanings of diversified ways of education in life.
2. Water-saving cooperation outside of campus: Out of campus, student associations take advantage of the opportunity of winter and summer vacation service teams to travel to the countryside elementary and middle schools to promote and educate prospective students; through the implementation of the plan, the combination of the power of the public sector or enterprises to guide the community, the emphasis was made on the water resources in the township, this is part of the university's support for the sustainable use of water resources. From the past water resources research center to the current water environment information research center, marine and underwater science, technology research center, and other institutions, the university continues to cooperate with governmental water resources related departments, such as the Environmental Protection Agency, the Water Conservancy Agency, or the regional river bureaus. Other units maintain close cooperation to support water management practices with academic research energy and provide opportunities for faculties and students of relevant departments to develop their strengths.
